This series of posts, called "Creator's Talk," is designed to introduce the intentions and thoughts of the creators behind their creation.
Continuing from the first part, in this second part we will hear from the owner, Mr. Abe, about his brand philosophy.
ーWe talked about the origin of the brand name last time. Continuing this interview, we would like to ask you about the philosophy the brand aims to achieve. What does it mean? What does it mean to you?
As I mentioned last time, our basic premise is: As a family business, we want to do what we can with care, without sacrificing what we value or who we are.
I want to strive for our own style, while also remaining flexible.
First of all, as a Creative Director, I want to create originality based on my own roots and how I want to live.
Our philosophy will ideally be conveyed through what we create and how people feel about it. I don't think it's something that can be forced.
ーIndeed, it seems to me that philosophy is largely dependent on the recipient. Do you have anything in particular that you would like people to see?
Regarding what we would like people to see, one example is 'Prunus Mume' (or Japanese apricot). It is a source of inspiration for design.
Tenmangu Shrine is very famous in Dazaifu City, where I grew up, and the plum blossoms enshrined in Tenmangu Shrine, which were the favorite of Michizane (a historical figure enshrined in the shrine), are also popular with the locals.
When I was a small child, I planted a plum tree in my garden as a memento of my graduation from kindergarten, and I waited for the plum blossoms to come out at the end of winter. I consider the plum tree to be symbolic of my roots, as it holds memories of my childhood.
The other one is "animals". On the Mr. & Mrs. Abe website, as you may have noticed, we often use pictures of dogs and cats.
My wife and I both love animals like dogs and cats, and we feel peaceful just looking at them.。
When we spend time with our small family, we want to be happy and shower them with love, and that feeling we get when we look at them is exactly what we think is typical of Mr. & Mrs. Abe.
We decided to venture into pet jewelry with this in mind. It is a new field, and we will have to work on it by hand. We are going to make something that we would like to give to our own pets. If people recognize our products and buy more of them, we will be happy.
ーOh, I see. Sounds interesting, pet jewelry!
Now it's time to talk about jewelry. We'll talk about it in the next two parts!
First we are going to talk about the opening collection, the Prunus Mume series, and then we will talk about pet jewelry.
Once again, thank you!
